Choosing fixed blade hunting knives can be a challenge. They however very popular these days.

What you want to look for is to make sure the blade goes all the way into the handle. This is sometimes called the tang and when it goes the full length of the handle it is called a full tang.

If the knife doesn't have a full tang make sure were the blade enters the handle that it is secure and not loose. If the knife comes with a sheath put the knife and take it out several times to make sure it doesn't bind in the sheath and it is easy to take out and put back in. This is more a personal preference than anything so get what you want.
